
Rob Levy is one of London’s most respected double bass players. Rob was educated at University College, London, and studied bass, classical guitar and jazz theory at Dornbirn Music School and the Bregenz Conservatory in Austria. Rob is a veteran of over forty West End musicals, including Five Guys Named Moe, Evita, Starlight Express, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Blood Brothers, Cabaret, Wicked and La Cage aux Folles. He is a member of the acclaimed Jewish world music group The Burning Bush, plays Brazilian Jazz with Lobu Bobu and also performs with K-Groove. He played in the world premiere of Anna Meredith’s opera Tarantula in Petrol Blue at Aldeburgh. Rob recently played on the soundtrack of Edward Zwick’ s feature film Defiance, and appeared in the film Evita as a member of an Argentinian tango band. He was the house bass player for the recent BBC TV series Sounds of the Musicals. His talents have been called upon by artists as diverse as Alison Moyet, Sacha Distel, Petula Clark, Helen Shapiro and Sir Cliff Richard.
